My Parenting Journey – Pradeep Chakraborty
Pradeep has over 20 years of international experience in technology media, with extensive knowledge in electronic components, electronics, semiconductors, solar/PV, research and analysis, telecommunications, etc. His blog has won numerous awards, including “World's Best Blog in Electronic Hardware” by Electronics Weekly, UK (Dec 2008) and “Top Blog for Design and Verification” by AMIQ Consulting, Romania (Feb 2017).
Who influences your parenting style?
It's been my mom! The way she raised me, I have tried to raise my son in the same manner. Not sure whether I have been successful, but am trying my best! 😉
How do you develop close relationship with your son?
Oh, very simple! Ever since his birth, Prateek has been sleeping with me! I used to place him, as a baby, on my lap, and fall asleep myself. It has worked wonders. I also toilet trained him, besides feeding and bathing him during Sundays and holidays.
What is the best piece of parenting advice or guidance you have ever received?
None! Are you surprised? In fact, I've even seen other wives coax their husbands to follow my path! No names please! 🙂
What are some of the biggest challenges you face in parenting? How do you deal with them?
No challenge faced so far! I raised him to be well mannered, and looked after his education fees. My wife, Shima, took very good care of him, right through school and college.
As a parent, what is the one thing that you wish for?
Well, I hope he never grows up! 😉 So, I can play with him.
What advice do you have for parents who have kids of the same age?
Love and let children be! Be there, with them, forever.
