[Republic Polytechnic] Diploma in Sports Coaching (DSC)

Based around the art and science of coaching, the Diploma in Sports Coaching (DSC) has been designed in consultation with Sport Singapore to teach you the basics of sports science. You will learn essential soft skills such as communication, athlete and team management and professional ethics.

The course structure consists of general, discipline and specialisation modules. There is also an industry orientation component.

Whether you hope to train individual athletes or teams, Diploma in Sports Coaching will enable you to build a rewarding career as a sports coach, instructor or fitness trainer.

Undergraduate Studies
The diploma is designed to meet the requirements for advanced standing in local and overseas universities. DSC graduates can apply to any of the local universities, or enjoy advanced standing at various overseas institutions such as:

 
Skills Deepening
Upon graduation, DSC students can choose to deepen their skills and knowledge in a chosen field before embarking on their career. They could either sign up for part-time courses or pursue ELPs.

Career Choices

DSC graduates benefit from transferable skills and knowledge that can be applied to diverse domains such as sporting institutions, schools, gyms, and recreational clubs. You can also pursue further studies to become a Physical Education teacher. Some rewarding and fulfilling career options you can look forward to include:

Certification/Qualification

Diploma Certificate for Diploma in Sports Coaching (DSC).

To meet the graduation requirement, students will need to achieve a total number of modular credits as stipulated in the graduation criteria of their diploma programme. Students should complete the diploma programme within three years of enrolment.

Entry Criteria

GCE O-Level
ELR2B2-C: 14

ITE
Nitec Minimum net GPA ≥ 3.5
Higher Nitec Minimum net GPA ≥ 2.0

GCE A-Level

  • Obtain an A-S grade for General Paper (English Medium),
  • Obtain an A-E grade for 3 other H2 subjects, AND
  • Must have taken GCE ‘A' Level examinations whilst studying in a Junior College / Millennia Institute in Singapore
