[Ngee Ann Polytechnic] Diploma in International Trade & Business

This unique course gives you a solid grounding in business, trade and logistics, with a global focus. You will gain a broad-based understanding of international trade practices and supply chain management, and learn skills in key domain areas such as finance, purchasing and logistics. There may be opportunities for you to go on yearly overseas trips through the International Business Exploration & Study Trip (iBEST) initiative.

Course Outline

Throughout your three years, our strong emphasis on international trade operations from a global perspective will give you an edge in careers in the wholesale trade and logistics sectors. Our strong links with industry partners will also provide you with up-to-date and realworld learning experiences as well as mentorship.

First Year
In your first year, you will gain a strong foundation with modules such as Accounting & Finance, Business Statistics, Macroeconomics, and Warehousing & Materials Management. You will go on learning journeys in the ASEAN region and gain cross-cultural perspectives and a better understanding of different business environments.

Second Year
In your second year, you will strengthen your knowledge in international trade business and management with interesting modules such as International Trade & Practices, Maritime Management, Aviation Management, and Digital Business Solutions. You will venture further to countries such as China. You will also be able to attend talks and network with international business practitioners.

Third Year
Round off your third year with a six-month Enhanced Internship at local or overseas companies such as Carousell, DBS, IBM, Keppel Logistics and Lufthansa Cargo. On top of that, you will get to apply your skills on a capstone project to solve real-world challenges.

Course Outcome

As an ITB graduate, you can pursue degrees in business, international trade, logistics and supply chain management, as well as other business degree courses at all local and overseas universities. You can also consider the Specialist Diploma in International Trading under the Place-and-Train Programme offered by Singapore Management University, or the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme which is a work-study programme designed to give fresh graduates from polytechnics a head start in careers related to their discipline of study.

With Singapore expanding its role as a major global trading hub, job prospects are bright for you. Embark on a career in international business analysis, trade coordination, import/export compliance, e-commerce, procurement, and market research in the wholesale trade and logistics sectors.

Entry Criteria

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must have the following GCE ‘O’ Level examination (or equivalent) results.

Entry requirements

You must also have sat for a Humanities subject or Art/Music or Principles of Accounts or a relevant OSIE/Applied Subject and fulfil the aggregate computation requirements.
