[Informatics Academy] Certificate in Foundation Skills

This programme is designed to develop the students’ foundation skills in Numeracy, Technology and Literacy, thereby enhancing their performance for both academic and non-academic endeavours. It effectively prepares students for the intellectual demands and skills set required at degree level.

Course Outline

The Certificate in Foundation Skills is structured with three modules. The numeracy component focuses on building a strong mathematics background, the technology component covers the use of IT productivity tools in the school and work environment, and the literacy component improves students' fluency in written and spoken English. The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops in a classroom environment at our campus, typically in 3-hour blocks over a period of 6 months.

Course Outcome

The Certificate in Foundation Skills aims to equip students with strong foundation skills and enable them to be eligible to further their studies with an Informatics Academy Diploma programme.

Further Studies
Upon successful completion of the Certificate in Foundation Skills awarded by Informatics Academy, the student is eligible to apply for an Informatics Academy Diploma programme.

Certification/Qualification

Upon successful completion of all modules, students will be eligible for the Certificate in Foundation Skills awarded by Informatics Academy. Students must pass test and coursework assessments in the Numeracy, Technology, Literacy components, as well as fulfill attendance requirements in order to obtain the certification.

Entry Criteria

We encourage applicants aged 16 and above to apply for this certificate. Applicants should have at least 1 GCE O Level grade above D7 OR have completed secondary education (defined as 10 years of formal education) OR have other equivalent qualification as assessed by our programme evaluators.

In addition, applicants must also hold relevant qualifications in the English language. This is either a GCE O Level English above grade D7 OR a Certificate in Proficiency in English awarded by Informatics Academy OR IELTS 4.5 and equivalent OR a pass in the Informatics English Qualifying Test.

We are happy to accept mature candidates with at least 8 years of working experience in this programme as well.

Course Fee: S$2,140 (applicable for both local and international students)
Fee Protection Scheme: S$25 (applicable for both local and international students)
Non-Refundable Application Fees: S$107 (for local students), S$321 (for international students)
Student Pass administrative fee (only for international students): S$321

Course Schedule

This course runs for a total of 6 months with monthly cohort intakes.
