The Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) is a public higher education and research institution that brings together five prestigious French engineering schools: École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris and Télécom SudParis. The five founding institutions embody experience, history and roots, positioning IP Paris as a leading education and research institution in France and internationally.

Our Institutions

Located 20 km from Paris, the IP Paris campus on the plateau of Saclay offers all the necessary facilities for students and faculty members. Thanks to its privileged geographical situation and its accessibility by public transports, the students and faculty can benefit from the economic dynamism and the cultural wealth of the city of Paris.

IP Paris has set up 10 research and education communities composed of faculty members of its five institutions. They collectively define the content of the training programmes as well as the research projects conducted by IP Paris. Conducted in partnership with companies, the research programmes are organised around five priority areas: energy and climate change, security, digital, technology, and health.

Programmes Offered

IP Paris and its institutions offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various fields: Bachelor degree (at École Polytechnique), masters (Engineering curriculum, Master’s Degrees), PhD programmes. IP Paris Institutions also offer Masters of Science and Technologies, Advanced Masters, and Executive Education.

IP Paris develops educational programmes with an international focus and provides students with a high-level research environment and a dynamic ecosystem fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Ambitious PhD programmes
A research at the best level relies on doctoral students with high potential. On the one hand, IP Paris will offer classic three-years PhD programmes in a variety of disciplinary fields. The doctoral research conducted within IP Paris is based on 30 laboratories and takes place in a top-level scientific environment. On the other hand, in the context of a strong international recruitment competition, IP Paris aims at deploying an ambitious five-year PhD programme that will welcome high-level students wishing to focus their studies on research already at the end of their Bachelor’s degree. The ultimate goal is to double the number of PhD students in its laboratories.

A cutting-edge research Institute
IP Paris brings together 30 research laboratories and interdisciplinary innovation centres. The research programmes developed allows the scientific research working groups to define key research areas and to develop multidisciplinary research projects in partnership with companies. The research is organised around five priority areas: energy and climate change, security, digital, technology and health. IP Paris also aims at strengthening social sciences research which have become key element to guarantee an innovation with a strong economic and societal impact.

Admissions Advice
If you are a national of a European Economic Area country (European Union countries (EU), Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein) or Switzerland, you don’t need any visa to come to study in France.

If you are not a national of a European Economic Area country (European Union countries, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein) or Switzerland, you must request a student long stay visa valid as a French residence permit (VLS-TS = Visa étudiant Long Séjour valant Titre de Séjour).

This visa allows you to remain in France for one year without needing to request a residence permit. Your visa will need to be approved by the OFII (the French Immigration and Integration Office) within the first 3 months after your arrival in France.
